Jodi Picoult novels appeal to the masses because of the books' diverse, yet probing, topics.

Jodi Picoult is the best-selling author of seventeen novels. Her books are thought-provoking looks at difficult modern issues that Picoult writes about so the reader feels part of the story.

Picoult graduated from Princeton where she studied creative writing. After graduating she worked as a technical writer, copywriter for an ad agency, textbook editor, and an eighth grade English teacher before she attended Harvard for a master's degree in education.

According to the Jodi Picoult Web site, when asked how long it takes her to write a book, Picoult answered: "Nine months. Stop laughing. I don't know why it takes me the same amount of time to deliver either a book or a baby, but there you have it. Sometimes the amount of research vs. rough-drafting varies, but it generally takes three-quarters of a year for my head to gel ideas into a cohesive story."

Picoult has written seventeen books that range from stories about the Amish in Plain Truth to rape and suicide in The Tenth Circle to health care issues in My Sister's Keeper and Handle with Care to Asperger's syndrome in her latest book House Rules. She also wrote five issues of the Wonder Woman comic book series for DC Comics. Her latest novel, House Rules, deals with a boy with Asperger's Syndrome, a type of high-functioning autism. Like her other books, in House Rules, Picoult steps right into the fray of difficult social topics of the day.

Four of Picoult's books have been made into movies. The transfer from page to screen has worked well for the following of her popular books:
